David Hitch completed a BA at Central Saint Martins and he then went on to complete a postgraduate in Communication Design.
His illustrations are mainly produced by combining hand drawn and digital components. He very successfully captures depth and a range of textures. Hitch worked for Penguin and in the late 1990’s he produced over forty covers.
He is renowned for his production of illustrative maps and I particularly like these as they manage to stir up your senses as they are different from what you’d expect to see. I believe that they are more successful because he only uses a hand drawn style with no computer type involved.
